Department Services during COVID-19

The Department of Agriculture & Industries is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our employees and customers as we do our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while continuing to provide exceptional customer service.

Due to the Administrative Guidance issued by Governor Kay Ivey, many of our office staff will be working remotely and we are taking this step to limit the spread of the virus.
The Richard Beard Building and Diagnostic Labs in Auburn, Elba, Boaz and Hanceville will remain open.

We are prepared to continue business operations with minimal disruption, and to continue to ensure a safe and secure food supply. When possible, we ask you contact us by phone or email (click here for a division email and phone list) rather than visiting in person.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries is not issuing travel documents at this time.
As of April 3, 2020, the State of Alabama is not requiring an “essential travel form” being required for travel by food and agriculture workers.  However, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has developed an optional Access Letter Template for those that would like develop their own letter. Information regarding this template can be found here under the ALEA Access Letter Press Release section.
Please continue to follow the latest Emergency Order and the guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health, listed in the Helpful Links section below.
